Tie and Dye Workshop

Fashion is about playing with colors and infusing colors into fabrics. Tie-dyeing is based on the traditional art of folding or tying fabric to create resists that stop the dye from being absorbed into parts of the fabric, thereby forming unique patterns of color. Often people use tie-dye to create a design on white fabric. Using the bucket method is a quick way to tie-dye several items at one time.
INIFD Deccan students were taught the tie and dye process under the guidance of Vrushali Ma’am. The process of tie-dye typically consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or a garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by application of dye. The fabric used mostly are cotton…but u can use natural fabrics like silk and man-made fabrics like nylon or polyester.
The main raw materials used are fabric dyes, color fixtures, and raw salt.
